What is a AVCHD file?
AVCHD is a multimedia file that uses Advanced Video Codec High Definition technology developed jointly by Sony and Panasonic. AVCHD format is primarily used in digital cameras. AVCHD files can be saved on optical media storage (CD, DVD, BD), disks and memory cards. AVCHD format supports HD images in resolutions up to 1920 × 1080 with MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 ocompression and Dolby Digital (AC-3) sound.

How to associate the file with an installed software?
If you want to associate a file with a new program (e.g. my-file.AVCHD) you have two ways to do it. The first and the easiest one is to right-click on the selected AVCHD file.
